ADHD & Autism Evaluations

Understanding the WHY Behind Behavior

Have you ever wondered why everyday tasks seem harder than they should? Why you feel overwhelmed by situations others appear to manage easily? Or why you’ve spent years feeling different without fully understanding why?

At Clear Perception Behavioral Services, we offer individualized, neurodiversity-affirming assessments that explore strengths, developmental patterns, executive functioning, sensory experiences, and overlapping conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and learning differences.

An evaluation is not simply about receiving a diagnosis. It is about gaining a clearer understanding of yourself or your child and determining what support may be most helpful.

Telehealth services are available to eligible individuals in Indiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Oregon, subject to licensure and clinical appropriateness.

ADHD Evaluations — Children, Adolescents & Adults

ADHD is more than difficulty paying attention. It can affect many aspects of daily functioning, including:

  • Sustaining attention and filtering out distractions
  • Organizing information, materials, and routines
  • Working memory and holding instructions in mind
  • Time management and meeting deadlines
  • Task initiation and getting started
  • Emotional regulation and responding to frustration
  • Impulsivity, restlessness, or acting before thinking
  • Completing tasks and following through

Some people experience these difficulties throughout childhood. Others do not recognize the pattern until adulthood, when work, education, parenting, or relationships become more demanding. ADHD may also be overlooked in individuals who perform well academically, compensate through extensive effort, or experience predominantly inattentive symptoms.

Our ADHD evaluation is a formal diagnostic evaluation. It includes a clinical interview, relevant history, standardized measures, and careful consideration of overlapping conditions. When supported by the findings, it results in a diagnostic determination and a written report with individualized recommendations.

Autism Screenings & Evaluations — Adolescents & Adults

Autism doesn’t always look the way people expect. It can present differently across individuals, and many people develop sophisticated strategies for navigating social expectations. An evaluation may explore:

  • Social communication and reciprocal interaction
  • Sensory differences and sensitivities
  • Routines, repetition, and need for predictability
  • Focused interests and depth of engagement
  • Adaptive functioning and everyday responsibilities
  • Masking and compensatory strategies
  • Overlooked or misunderstood presentations
  • Co-occurring anxiety, depression, or trauma

Autism Screening — $300

A focused clinical assessment for adolescents and adults that includes relevant history and screening measures as appropriate, along with a written report summarizing findings, identified characteristics, clinical impressions, and recommendations for next steps.

Screening does not automatically establish or rule out an Autism diagnosis. A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation is a separate service.

Comprehensive Autism Evaluation — $1,500 (Private Pay)

An in-depth, individualized diagnostic assessment that comprehensively explores the person’s experiences and functioning — including developmental and mental health history, social communication, sensory processing, executive and adaptive functioning, masking, and overlapping conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Includes a detailed written report integrating clinical history, assessment findings, diagnostic reasoning, conclusions, and individualized recommendations. A particular diagnosis is not guaranteed.

What the Comprehensive Autism Evaluation may include

Depending on clinical needs, the assessment may include:

  • Detailed personal and developmental history, including childhood experiences
  • Comprehensive mental health history, including prior diagnoses, treatment, and symptoms
  • Educational, occupational, relationship, and social history
  • Family history and relevant information from other sources when available and appropriate
  • Social communication and interaction patterns
  • Sensory processing, routines, repetitive behaviors, and interests
  • Executive functioning, adaptive functioning, and everyday challenges
  • Masking, compensatory strategies, and overlooked presentations
  • Standardized assessment measures and clinical interviews
  • Consideration of ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, and other overlapping or co-occurring concerns

The comprehensive evaluation includes a detailed written report that integrates the clinical history, assessment findings, diagnostic reasoning, conclusions, and individualized recommendations. This evaluation looks beyond individual symptoms to understand the person’s overall developmental, psychological, and functional profile. A particular diagnosis is not guaranteed.

Special Attention to Overlooked Autism Presentations

Clear Perception Behavioral Services places particular emphasis on individuals whose Autism-related characteristics may have been overlooked or misunderstood.

This includes women, adolescents, and adults with average or above-average intellectual abilities, and people who have learned to mask or compensate for their differences.

Some individuals have spent years receiving treatment for anxiety, depression, or other concerns without fully understanding the developmental and sensory patterns contributing to their experiences. A thoughtful evaluation considers these possibilities without assuming that Autism is necessarily the explanation.

Understanding the Evaluation Process

While each evaluation is individualized, the process generally includes the following components. The specific measures used depend on the type of assessment and the individual’s needs.

  1. 1Clinical interview focused on current concerns and goals
  2. 2Developmental, educational, and relevant history
  3. 3Standardized rating scales and measures
  4. 4Review of executive functioning, sensory, and daily living
  5. 5Consideration of overlapping or co-occurring conditions
  6. 6Diagnostic determination based on the findings
  7. 7A written report with findings and recommendations

Benefits of an Evaluation

A thoughtful evaluation may help individuals:

  • Better understand longstanding patterns and challenges
  • Recognize personal strengths and support needs
  • Identify factors contributing to executive or sensory difficulties
  • Explore appropriate treatment and support options
  • Communicate needs more effectively with family, school, or employers
  • Discuss educational or workplace accommodations when appropriate
  • Reduce uncertainty about possible explanations for experiences
  • Plan practical next steps grounded in the findings

Receiving a diagnosis is not the only meaningful outcome. Sometimes ruling out a suspected condition or identifying another explanation can be equally valuable. An evaluation offers clarity to work from — it does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, treatment result, insurance decision, or accommodation.
